Humidifiers
Humidity acts as a natural moisturizing agent that can relieve dryness. For this reason, humidifiers are often used for relieving:
- Dry Skin
- Sinus Congestion
- Dry Throat
- Nose Irritation
- Bloody Noses
- Irritated Vocal Cords
- Dry Cough
- Cracked Lips
By adding moisture to the air, the moisture traps heat and holds the heat in your home. For example, you could keep your thermostat at a lower temperature and still feel comfortable which will save money due to less heating. The health benefits of a humidifier are bountiful. The moisture in the air promotes less dry skin, bloody noses, sore throats, and helps keep your house from drying out. It promotes healthy breathing so less dry cough. Ever get electric shocks from touching things in the house during those winter months? That is due to dry air, installing a humidifier can help that as well. They can be set to a desired percentage which usually falls between 35 and 45 percent to keep you most comfortable.
There are many different types of humidifiers. Steam is a wonderful way to humidify your home. When installed properly a steam humidifier will keep your home humid during those cold winter days. Steam humidifiers work quickly and efficiently compared to by-pass or power fan humidifiers, they can also be remote mount if your system is in an unconditioned space. This means the humidifier is installed in a closet or utility room where it is warm and run into the system located in a cold space to prevent freezing. Call us today and have a Humidifier installed.
The importance of maintenance
Heating season is upon us, and the cold weather is settling in. As the temperature drops, the heating equipment works harder. Breakdowns of your heating system can be avoided with maintenance of your equipment. Here at Corbin Electric, we strive to provide you with the best service possible. When we arrive to your home, we will perform an assessment of your heating system. We will clean the equipment, make any required adjustments and check all safety interlocks to make sure your system works at peak capacity. This is important to you for a few different reasons. First, this saves you money by keeping it operating at its highest efficiency as the system will use less fuel. Second, checking the furnace functionality, ensures all safeties and interlocks are working properly. These safeties keep your system operating correctly and safely for you and your family. Finally, preventative maintenance helps prevent breakdowns of your equipment, costing you time, money and frustration. Nobody wants to be cold or have heating equipment that malfunctions.
Maintenance is important which is why we have programs in place for anyone’s need. For a typical split system, furnace and air conditioner, we will come out twice a year for service. We will check your heating system in the fall and your air conditioning system in spring. We will check your air filter as it is extremely important to have a clean filter. The filter allows air flow to your system. A dirty or restricted air filter can cause your heat exchanger on your furnace to overheat or you air conditioning coil to freeze. We also check for carbon monoxide, which is a byproduct of burning fuel. This is very important because carbon monoxide is very dangerous. Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas which can kill. A crack in your heat exchanger can happen and you may not know it. We have ways of checking this and keeping you safe. Heating and cooling systems are designed to last 15-20 years. We at Corbin Electric are offering a lifetime warranty on our heating and cooling equipment. You will never have to by a system again!! 24 hour emergency service, lifetime warranties how can you go wrong?
Corbin Electrical Services, Inc.
Too often we take the comfort of our homes for granted, and it goes unnoticed until there is a problem. A simple maintenance program can find many issues before problems occur. A recent client of ours called us because he had no heat, upon arrival to his home we found his inducer motor that expels dangerous fumes was not working properly. This was a 20 year old furnace, we gave him options of repair or replacement and they wanted to replace with a high efficiency furnace. The following day we arrived, set up our drop cloths and began to work. Upon rip out of the furnace we found 3 cracks in the heat exchanger! Their carbon monoxide detectors were not working either; this is an extremely dangerous situation. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer, it has no smell. With our maintenance programs we check for cracks in heat exchangers by using meters to measure for carbon monoxide. Thankfully they opted to replace their furnace, and we installed a 96% high efficiency furnace with a lifetime replacement warranty also saving them money on operating costs lowering gas bills. The cracks were not found because it was not running at the time, but we always check for cracks with any furnace repair.
